Knowledge Is...Having Faith in Yourself

So, since being here at BYU-Idaho, I have made some new friends, new family, and a new life. Sure it feels like it's been an eternity since I've seen my own family (my roommate last night brought up that we had only been living here for two and a half weeks now!) and I have a calling now within my Ward.

My new calling is the Ward History specialist. My duty is to record any happenings that occur in my ward, new callings, releases, engagements, activities, things internationally and local that effect my ward, and even death if it were to occur. I also need to take pictures and type up my records which at the end of the year will be sent to Salt Lake City to be organized for the Church Historian.

....Ok, so the real purpose of this post is because I'm REALLYREALLYREALLYREALLYREALLY NERVOUS!!!!

I'm currently in the ROTC program here at BYU-Idaho, and with the combo of not being super fit (and being a girl) as I entered into the program has made this...difficult. It has definetly been a physical and even a mental challenge for me as I'm now the only girl in my squad. In the company there are only...two other girls. That I know of anyways...

Today I'm taking my second PT (Physical Training) test and I'm reallly nervous. For one thing, I havn't been as motivated to work out on the days that I'm not doing PT with my squad because I've been sick this week. And yesterday was...interesting. Combo of being sick I was also placed in the...leadership position. My squad had to follow my pace on our run and...I'm not too great at running up hills. But I did my best and although it was embaressing and kind of frustrating because I'm not as fast as the men in my squad but I am getting better and I never complain...I just can't wait until I don't have to rest as often and when I can be a true leader for my squad.
I'm really pleased that I chose to do this rather than to join the Army Reserves (or Airforce) last year, I think that with this I will do better because 1) This is the ROTC at BYU-Idaho and we seem to feel more...comadery here. We encourage each other and no one is left behind. Everyone plays a part even if they aren't the best (ME).

So...I just really pray and hope that I will be able to pass today. My goal is to get that uniform, and I will have it before this semester is through!!

...ok now I'm nervous again -sigh- My hands are kind of shaking....I think I'm just...I don't want to be that last person to not have passed. Here is my schedule for the ROTC program.

On mondays, wednesdays and fridays we have our group PT (physical training) and that goes from 3:15-4:15. Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have our class which on Tuesday it goes from 3:15-4:15...but Thursdays are our labs. Now to participate in the labs you HAVE TO PASS THE PT TEST!! It's very important. Now there are some labs that you can do if you don't have your ACU's yet (Army Combat Uniforms) but you're much more limited in that regard.

Uuuhgg...I just looked at the clock.

Annnyyywaaayyys. So, I'm just waiting for this cold to go away, it's a pain in the butt to have especially considering my excercise regime throughout the week. But I am getting stronger and I'm doing much better than I did in the first week.

Ciao!
